This leadership transition reflects a considered succession planning process that ensures continuity for clients, people, and partners, and positions the business for continued success across Australia and the wider Tonkin + Taylor Group network.

“Richard’s appointment reflects the bench strength of our Group and Australian leadership and our commitment to talent within Tonkin + Taylor,” said Tim Fisher, Managing Director, Tonkin + Taylor Group. “Richard brings extensive consulting, Australasian, and executive experience, which gives him the capability to execute our strategic growth ambitions in Australia.”

As Chief Executive, Richard Hancy will lead Tonkin + Taylor in Australia, Chadwick Geotechnics, and Bligh Tanner with the existing General Managers and leaders in each company. His role will focus on the combined go-to-market strategies of these businesses, strengthening client partnerships, and advancing Tonkin + Taylor’s strategic goals of growth, innovation, and sustainability.

Richard Hancy said: “I’m excited to take on the role of Chief Executive for Tonkin + Taylor Group in Australia. Together with our Tonkin + Taylor, Chadwick Geotechnics and Bligh Tanner teams across Australia, we’ll remain focused on building trusted partnerships, collaboration, and delivering exceptional work for our clients.”

Tim Chadwick has served as CE since 2023. His story with Tonkin + Taylor has been remarkable, and there is plenty more to come. He founded Chadwick Geotechnics in 1996 and sold the business to Tonkin + Taylor in 2006. Tim was the long-time Chief Executive of Chadwick Geotechnics and a driving force behind establishing Tonkin + Taylor in Australia in 2011. His decision to remain on the Board ensures continuity, stability, and ongoing support for the business and its clients.

Tim Chadwick said: “Leading Tonkin + Taylor in Australia has been an absolute privilege, and working alongside Richard through a well-planned transition gives me great confidence in the future. I remain excited about and committed to supporting our business’s ongoing success in this next chapter.”

These changes are part of Tonkin + Taylor Group’s long-term leadership evolution, designed to sustain growth and maintain the high level of service, integrity, and technical excellence that clients deserve.
