Hamilton City Council identified the need for development of a digital tool in response to urban intensification, spurred by the government’s National Policy Statement for Urban Development (NPSUD). The NPSUD promotes housing growth in areas with access to existing infrastructure by removing regulatory barriers which is placing increasing pressure on water and wastewater networks. Hamiton City Council tasked Tonkin + Taylor (T+T) with development of a digital tool to support councils in managing these pressures and to enable development engineers to estimate capacity reductions caused by proposed developments.
